Nobody’s Ghoul
The definition of love is that you care for someone more than you care for yourself
Hex on Sky One has been this year’s surprise TV hit - it’s Britain’s first monster-fest classroom drama complete with ghouls, handsome villains, mean girls, eccentric teachers and gorgeous students. We caught up with the swoonsome Jamie Davis who plays the irresistibly cocky Leon in the series…No one would say no to meeting him after dark!

How did you get the job in Hex?
I had just finished filming a few things last year and I got a call to come in to read for a supporting role. I read in front of the directors, got called in again and then was offered the part. When they approached me this year and said it was a lead, I accepted straight away too. I knew I had to leave Footballers’ Wives in order to accept but I knew it was a great opportunity to do something really different. One of the things that draws me to Hex is that it is not like anything else we have in this country on TV. There’s a great attention to detail and it’s very slick. It’s like anything goes and everything is tried in this programme which is really daring.

What drew you to the character of Leon?
I think when you first meet Leon, you realise he’s a typical adolescent boy who’s afraid of showing his sensitive side – he would much rather be in with the ‘cool’ group and ultimately his responses are really contrived. What happens to change things in this series is that he falls in love for the first time and his eyes are really open to the real world. The definition of love is that you care for someone more than you care for yourself – and basically he becomes much more likeable as a consequence.
