| Hi I'm new here - love a bit of goss about celebs - they are so strange! What's your all time favourite English comedian? The English do comedy best I think! I'd have to go with Ricky Gervias in "Extras". I preferred that to "The Office". Too cringeworthy, I just couldn't watch it… |

My favourite comedian is Scottish, Billy Connelly and my second favourite is Irish, Dara O'Briain. English... probably Lee Evans! Jimmy Carr is brilliant as well. I really enjoy going to see comedians. |

Dara O'Briain is a legend! I have like an obsession with comedians anyway, my favourite English ones are Johnny Vegas, Ricky Gervais, John Bishop, Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Jason Manford, Sean Lock and David Walliams. NOT Vic Reeves mind...

Such a hard question. Stand up? Bloody hell. My favourite stand up is Dylan Moran, he's completely & utterly amazing. If you like spontaneous stand up then try Ross Noble, he's ace for it, his written and prepared part of the show isn't nearly as god but his observant humour is so very very good. If you like non pc things, Gervais is your man. Religion, race and disability are very common in his shows. Alan Carr is actually really very funny, very camp, tongue in cheek and really good. If you like character comedy check out Mathew Holness (sp?), his Garth Merenghi is side splitting. I'm not a huge fan of the stand up, not very clued up about that. Writers, although. My favourite writers are Armando Ianucci & Chris Morris. Get your hands on The Day Today, a spoof of the news, based on radio show On The Hour. If you watch only one comedy, watch this. It's not only hilarious it's deeply satirical and clever. Also check out Brasseye, Chris Morris' mockumentaries. The peadophille special was the most complained about tv show ever when it was shown in 2001. It is so very, very, very funny. Full of top notch actors as well, such as Doon Mackichan, Kevin Eldon, Mark Heap, Julia Davis and Simon Pegg. Very, very, very good. Graham Lineham helped out on Brasseye, he's the co-writer of Father Ted, and uber producer. Like Armando Iannuicci. Political Satire, he is the freakin man. Co-written with Jesse Armstrong (co-writer of Peep Show with Sam Bain, check that out as well) it stars Peter Capaldi & Chris Addison. Chris Langham's in it as well, but let's not talk about that. It's improvised and just beautifully executed. For slightly sureal comedy, Flight of the Conchords, really quirky, you either get it or you don't. Jermain Clement & Brett MacKenzie are so...innocent? It's been described as the Mighty Boosh meets The Monkees. It's really good. The Mighty Boosh are alright. Julian Barratt is a fox. Spaced, turn of the century studenty very funny, full of funny wee references and that. Full of stars, Simon Pegg, Jessica Hynes (nee Stevenson), Nick Frost, Mark Heap etc etc. And Cameos from Kevin Eldon, Mark Gatiss, David Walliams and John Simm. Stud. Another rather studenty thing for you could be the Adam and Joe show. Adam Buxton (Tim don't give out your email address, Hot Fuzz, newspaper reporter) and Joe Cornish (YES PLEASE) are just. Very funny. They're on 6 music on a Saturday 9am-noon, podcasts are on iTunes. Garth Marenghi, spoof horror show, completely and utterly fantastic, Richard Ayoade is hilarious-The IT crowd, Moss & The Mighty Boosh, Saboo. Alan Partidge, some amazing moments. But yes I feel I've wafflled on too long. Apologies. xoxo |
